Foreign superyachts avoid offering charters in Australia waters because they must pay a hefty 10 per cent GST on the value of the vessel. For a vessel worth $50 million, that’s a $5 million GST bill.

A motoryacht, reportedly the 37m Fusion, was captured on camera taking on water near Ibiza yesterday, the 19 July. Local reports suggest that eight guests were on board during the time of the incident.

No injuries have been reported and the local emergency services allegedly arrived on the scene before the yacht was submerged further.
